Abs Exercise #27: Trunk Rotation
This exercise is the trunk rotation with body bar. It works the abs and the obliques and also increases torso mobility. You will need a body bar, weight bar or you could even make do with an old broom handle.
Here is the proper way to perform the trunk rotation:
- Begin by standing with both feet apart and firmly planted into the ground.
- Rest the bar on the back of your shoulders and grip it as in the video below.
- While contracting your stomach muscles, rotate your shoulders as far as you can control with no movement at your belly button.
- Return to the starting position and rotate to the other side.
- Do 3 sets of 20 reps.
Things to remember when doing the trunk rotation:
- Keep your chest tall as your move through the exercise.
- Remember to keep your feet planted into the ground and keep your abs contracted.
