Everyone is different but I would say that three of the hardest things to achieve physically are a flat stomach, a tight firm buttocks and losing weight from the neck and face.
There is no specific exercise you can do to help you lose weight from around your face. Besides general cardio such as running, walking and swimming what else can you do to help improve the appearance of your neck and face?
Fat often goes to the cheeks and under the chin and although it is impossible to target a specific areas for weight loss, these 4 steps can help you start to reduce excess weight from the face.

1. Reduce the salt in your diet: Edema or oedema is the increase in fluid in an organ, causing swelling. One of the five main causes of this is sodium/salt retention. Salt makes you retain water, and since your face and body likes to retain water, the water goes there. So cut back on adding salt to foods, watch your intake of processed foods which use sodium (so they can last longer) and don’t eat snacks like potato chips and pretzels.
2. Drink more water: This may sound contradictory but drinking a lot more water every day will help you lose weight. Especially from around the face. If you’re not drinking enough water the body holds onto as much as it can causing edema (bloating). Your face, hands and feet will be swelled and most probably your stomach will as well. So the more water you drink the less water retention you will have in the face as well as the rest of your body.
Drinking water also flushes toxins out of vital organs and carries nutrients to your cells. The recommended daily intake of water is about 6 to 8 ounce glasses of water per day (1.5 to 1.9 litres). Also remember that your daily intake of water can come from other sources such as fruit, vegetables, juice, tea and coffee.
3. Cut back on alcohol consumption: Alcohol dehydrates you and as with too much salt consumption and not enough water leads to your face bloating. Alcohol also contains a lot of calories. As mentioned in my article on Tim Ferriss’ Diet, one thing you don’t need to be doing is drinking unnecessary calories.
4. Cut calories and strength train: As with most weight loss it doesn’t always come easy. Sure you can cut back your salt, alcohol and drink more water but if you want longer lasting and serious results for your body as well as your face then you need to work on improving your diet and exercise. Cardio workouts and strength training will improve your metabolism and develop your body’s lean muscle mass. The more muscle you have the more calories you will burn, even when you are doing nothing!
